Sweet 16 #2

Here is another view.

Pictures of Sweet 16 Party "Sweets Table"

Here you can see how we set the dining table up with the desserts, trying to give the impression of a candy shop. The buffet was used for the "regular" food.

Misty Mountain 1 and 2

Back to my on-line lessons - here are Misty Mountain 1 and 2. The lesson was practicing two different ways to create the effect of mist on a mountain - bleeding or fading the color out and pre-wetting the "mist" area and letting the color run in and "bleed". The second method is very tricky because you can't see where the water is. In both of the paintings I should have had the mist come down farther so that when I painted the trees they would stand out dark against light. I worked them rather quickly, especially the second one, getting impatient I guess. If I were to try it a third time I think I'd actually rather put the mountains in first instead of the sky. That way I could see where I wanted the mist to merge with the sky.

Here is the Completed Project!

Yeah! It is done! I was running out of time so I decided to scan and print a copy of each painting so that I could fill up the remaining "window panes" in the cupboard.

Center Cupboard Panels for Party

I finally finished the center panel of the cupboard for the SWEET 16 party this weekend. I had some time to doodle while Liz was in physical therapy.

Sweet 16 'Sweet Shop'

For my daughter's SWEET 16 we are hosting a SWEET 16 "Sweet Shoppe" party. Above the "hutch" area in our kitchen we have cupboards with a "window pane" design so I thought it would be cute to make little paintings of "treats" and tape them inside the window. We have four of these cupboards - lots of paintings!! Here is the first one (done on the computer to simulate the cupboard). Hopefully I get a photo when it is all finished.

Matterhorn

I did a few "doodles" in my sketchbook waiting for Lindsay at the doctors last night but I keep my sketchbook in the car - so, no scans of that. This is my first painting in several days. It is from the on-line tutorial I am following. I find it actually somewhat difficult to follow along but at least my brush is touching paper! The snow side of the mountain has some light rocks that didn't show in the scan so I guess I need to darken them a bit.
